GREENTEAM

The GPS Green Team is made up of Year 5 & 6 students who care about the environment and want to make a difference. The students volunteer their time every second Wednesday for lunch time meetings. Over the past 4 years the Green Team has
helped our environment by:

Reducing single use packaging at our school through the Waste Free Wednesday initiative.

Collecting fruit scraps to feed the schools two worm farms.

Becoming a Water Wise School (2010).

Participating in the Clever Climate Energy Savers Program (2012-2013).

Attending and participating in the Youth Environment Committee Meetings.

Participating yearly in Planet Ark Tree Day: highlights have included; planting a citrus garden (2012), becoming runners up inthe national poster designing competition (2011); guest tree planter Lee Kernaghan (2013).

Participating in the Green House and Trip to the Tip programs.

Maintaining the frog pond and native gardens surrounding it.

Initiating school clean ups and encouraging recycling programs. This year it is hoped that with Council support we can begin sorting and reusing our food waste to make compost....
